Time and time again, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has chosen to put profits above truth, safety, health and democracy. On October 17, 2019, he announced in a speech at Georgetown University that Facebook would let politicians and “VIPs” lie on Facebook without any consequences. Since then, he’s made bad decisions over and again—letting right-wing extremists use Facebook to organize violent protests like the January 6th assault on the US capitol; failing to stop disinformation about COVID-19 vaccines from outpacing true health information that could save people’s lives; and so much more. Recent revelations by the Wall Street Journal show the extent to which Zuckerberg understands how much Facebook’s business model harms its own users, and yet he’s done nothing about it.

It’s time to get the Zuck out! One person—especially someone who has such poor judgement—should not have sole power to decide what social media content will reach billions of people. Facebook needs new leadership that prioritizes the safety and wellbeing of its users and the global public. Truth Matters.
